“UNDER THE MUSHROOM CLOUD: Reflecting on the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki,” an exhibit from the Hiroshima Peace Museum, is on display on the third floor of Thomas Library. Originally displayed in 2008 in Koch Hall, this exhibit documents the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and their aftermath following World War II. Professor Tanya Maus, Assistant Professor of History, was instrumental in bringing this exhibit to the Library. The exhibit calls to mind the tragedy and horror of atomic warfare, raises awareness of the issues surrounding nuclear weapons and promotes peace. While some of the photographs may be disturbing, they are powerful in their impact. The exhibit may be viewed any time the library is open.
